I went for the lunchtime drink in The Trent Bridge Inn. In case you didn’t know, that’s a Wetherspoons these days. And at the top end (£2.50 a pint). There was a great Real Ale range. It was difficult to discern which ones were standard & which rotating guests. There was a Trent Bridge Inn badged ale. And at least three from Belvoir Brewery. I plumped for their Whipling at 3.6%. It was a perfectly good, nice and refreshing golden ale, with a nice gentle bitterness. Enjoyed it.
I’ll comment on the Nottinghamshire Pavilion beer. Just like Worcestershire, it seems Greene King are their “Pouring Partners”. So, they’ve gone part way into the range to put Belhaven Golden Bay on as well as IPA & Old Speckled Hen. At least it gives us punters some choice. Salute to that.
Trent Bridge is a great beer & cricket destination. Three handpulls in the Pavilion. (Wetherspoons) Trent Bridge Inn on the doorstep. The superb Stratford Haven just down the road. And back across the bridge to the slightly further away Trent Navigation Inn. All have something (no, lots) to recommend them. My favourite of the week was the Trent Navigation Inn (despite a hiccough).
Yorkshire couldn’t make it happen on Day 4. A hard fought draw. It needed a killer morning session. Without that and from there, Notts did well. I’ve got no problem with what they did. Very difficult for them to set up a declaration without risking being all out for a lower score. It’s proper cricket. They had to bat long to get themselves safe, then there wasn’t time/overs to try to get Yorkshire in.
