In my ideal world, the MCC Universities sides would be a clear pathway to a place in a County side & a contract. I'm afraid I have no idea how it works in practice. But I did see a tweet which said - "Did you know over 20% of current English qualified professional cricketers attended one of the MCC Universities".

I find that heartening.

I need to gently ease myself into the English bit of the season. Get all my Kit together. Radios, sunglasses, blow up cushions. Develop a strategy for which bits of Tupperware I can fit in. Calibrate how many spoons of instant coffee go in the flask. All go. Usually takes me about a month to get myself half ship-shape. I'm pacing around the Long Room like a caged bear.

Maybe (I'm thinking) I'll do more visits to local Headingley pubs. Maybe, even call in some Leeds pubs on my way through. Maybe lug fewer bottles around. Maybe.

Simple start. Pint of Black Sheep on cask in the Long Room. Very nice. I even caught myself thinking " Perfect Cricket Beer". Not too abv heavy. Nice & refreshing. Flavour.

I've got a lot of cricket opinion stuff flying around my head. Downtown, Graves, KP, Wisden Cricketers of the Year, England side & YCCC component thereof, revenue streams for County Cricket. Strap yourself in. I'll get my thoughts organised over coming days. I started blogging at the very end if the 2014 County Season. So, I need a formula, a system for my cricket & beer blogs. I need the right mix of report, opinion & Beer.

It's game on here. Lead of 250 and bits, 6 wickets down. The Leeds & Bradford MCCU boys made a dent in Yorkshire's 1st Innings total. Some tail wagging. And then were able to pin the run rate down. Barely 2 an over at one point. I get fed up with the "So & So needs to get out, so A. N. Other can get some time in the middle" attitude. It's a match situation play it from where it lies.

I think this game is helped by many Yorkshire players fighting for a Championship spot. At one point, with Gale & Leaning at the crease there looked some tempo & urgency to press on towards setting a target. But the wheels have come off a bit towards the end. 102-3 to 120-6.
