Odd game that. Efficient rather than clinical. Yorkshire had them in trouble early. Then were able to put the pressure on with dot balls & maidens. In due course Worcestershire set their stall out to get as deep into their 50 overs as possible. So the game drifted a bit at times.
Looked to me like a short sharp shock spell from Bresnan & some bamboozlement from Rashid did most of the trick. Matthew Fisher did well full stop. And, yeah, he's only 16.
I had to go out at the break to send AirMail to Adelaide to pay my Membership Fee there. My cricket club membership addiction continues. I'm currently a member at;
Yorkshire (Headingley)
Middlesex (Lord's)
South Australia (Adelaide)
Western Australia (Perth)
I'm on the waitlist at Sydney, but my membership has lapsed at both Cricket Wellington & Otago Cricket in New Zealand. I had a really good go at joining The Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club in Colombo, Sri Lanka... but didn't quite make it.
I'm not a member of The Cricket Club of India, but my Royal Society of Medicine membership usually gets me in.
I watch a lot of cricket.....
Today's drink was a bottle of Summer Wine Brewing Co. The Unholy Monk from Beer Central in Sheffield. Billed as Black Belgian IPA at 6%.
Slightly opaque like Cola. Lovely bubbles. Foaming only just off white head. Slightly treacle with some pine tones on the nose.
Dry on the palate. Bitter kick is the dominant taste. Some fruit there. Maybe candied apricot. It's nice. But I am left thinking "Black" "Belgian". No, it's all about the hoppy IPA.
Down the glass, I am getting a pleasant sourness to somewhat offset the lovely bitter kick. Maybe that's coming from the Belgian yeast.
