What are trousers?

My fourth annual visit to this event. I praised it to the heavens last year. And, it is still a superb event. One wing of the Grandstand turned over to a full on CAMRA Beer Festival. Exceptionally well organised. And, the regular Ascot staff are helpful & friendly.

The policy for bringing alcohol IN to the Racecourse/Festival is interesting & useful. The only alcohol you can bring in is Champagne or other sparkling wine. And you have to bring a food picnic as well. No booze on its own.

We fulfilled the requirements. So, my non-Beer companions were well catered for.

We use the Grandstand. No real dress code in there. But there is a code in the Premier Enclosure. Some right atrocities. How long before we have to redefine what TROUSERS actually means. I wish I'd got some pictures. One fella had a pair of strides made ostensibly from "suit material". But which were cut as tight jogging bottoms. Coupled with no socks. And "shoes" which were little more than plimsolls.

Generally, there were loads of arse out, low crotch, too tight, Jonny ankles, no socks. You. Are. Taking. The. Piss monstrosities. The Stewards need to adopt a "yes, yes, yes, we have written down & published the dress code, strictly those are trousers, but Fuck Sake mate, you can't come in looking like that" policy.

Literally, scaring the horses.

I'm a committed feminist. Not on to comment on a female's dress sense. But, elements of ditto, see above.

I know nothing about Horse Racing. So, I'm still getting hammered by the Bookies. Some good straight, blanket finish seven furlong stuff out there though. Saving grace is, I know a little bit about beer.

The also rans were;

Cronx, Lemon Saison at 5%
Downton, Quadhop at 3.9%
Downton, Chimera IPA at 6.8%
Goldmark, American Hop Idol at 4.4%
Kent, Enigma Black IPA at 5.5%
Longdog, Bunny Chaser at 3.6%
Sherfield Village, Special IPA at 6%
Outstanding, Three Point Nine at 3.9%

And the runner up for best turned out Beer of the Day was;

Cloudwater, Pale Ale at 3.7%

But, the winner was;
Track, Sonoma at 3.8%
