Gillespie/Gale Gunslinger Gauge - cranks up to FOUR Ballance, Brooks, Hodd, Lehmann.

I've reached the end of my short tether. It's Tuesday. Yorkshire won their 50 over Quarter Final last Thursday. I know, I was there. There or thereabouts, we knew we'd play Surrey at Headingley next Sunday. Immediately the Club announced ticket details. Many plusses. Quick announcement. Members, five quid off. Kids a Quid.

And, I quote (from the Website). “Members and other supporters attending Yorkshire’s Specsavers County Championship match at Scarborough from Tuesday will be able to purchase their tickets from North Marine Road.”

Brilliant. No need to queue on the Sunday morning. Brilliant. No need to have them posted & keep your fingers crossed. Brilliant. No need to join a different queue to collect them in an envelope on Sunday. Brilliant. You'd think.

I went to the correct office at North Marine Road. They confirmed they could take my details. They confirmed they could take my money. They confirmed they COULD NOT actually give me a ticket. But, that I'd either have to rely on Postman Pat or queue to collect at Headingley on matchday.

How do they come up with Shit like this? Tin. Pot.

It must be me. No, it really must. Seems normal to the Club. Why? Why not give me a ticket when I give them the money? Why complicate? Why? That's not “purchase”. That’s not “buy”. That’s “shit”.

Plant your feet. Play away from your body. Cross bat or straight. Don't matter. You'll end up 51 for 6. And from there, where can you get to? Century stand between Rafiq & Hodd (132). Eighty eight from Hodd & Brooks. Gets you to 282 all out. Papers over the fact you were 51-6. Poor.

Some beers to the rescue.

Black Edge Brewing, India Pale Ale on cask at 4.7%
Old Sawley, Tollbridge Porter on cask at 4.5%
Thomas Guest, Shalers on cask at 4%

In the impressively consistent Stumble Inn. And onwards to a neat 15 beer festival in Indigo Alley. Give him a tenner. You get a card for 4 pints. Coming in at two and half each.

Great Heck, Mercy on cask at 4%
Lancaster, Straw on cask at 3.5%

All taking the edge off. And reminding me that I understand “buy a few beers”.
