Meantime Brewing, Black Pale Ale in a tin at 4.1%. Perfectly good beer that. Although it is not what I expected. Leans more towards a mild or under hopped porter than a black IPA. There seems to be very little bitterness. Maybe just buried there somewhere at the end. It is over sweet in places. But, it gets away with it as it has a deep, rich blackcurrant sweetness hit.

I had a nose in the Bowlers’ Bar. They had “Wainwright The Golden Beer” on Cask. This version is essentially not branded as Thwaites anymore.

Another one of those don't enforce the follow on palavers. I don't get involved now. Mainly because the team not enforcing the follow on seem to always win anyway. I suppose we're all waiting for the rains to come, and it'll look like they've dropped a right bollock. Follow on rule is there to make it easier for a dominant team to win. Why not use it? See above.

Middlesex spent 36 overs getting 239 for 3. There was some fun to be had. Eskinazi, 62 off 34. Five fours & five sixes. Fifty in boundaries. They left themselves just 6 overs at Essex.

Anyway, they'll either win or look daft.
