Right. Let's face this head on. That's the wrong Dominic. Solanke was the difference there. In everything. Scored two. Bossed it. Great technique. Calvert-Lewin had his moments (again). I'm his most critical critic. I've earned that right by traipsing. Up to Shirecliffe week in, week out for eg. His touch was off. His movement off the ball was woeful. He's missed headers. He's the zone man at defensive corners & he won't look for the ball.

Italy scored “too early”. It meant they effectively threw away their game plan before they'd got going. I don't mind admitting. With about 35 gone. Losing the ball in midfield. Lewis Cook a bit off. Overhit crosses. I felt a nagging inevitability that Italy would get it done.

It was only with hindsight I realised that, despite everything, Italy weren't really offering an attacking threat. In the second half, England got really, really on top. Multiple shots flashing wide. Surely it had to come. Hopefully, it'll come. Any. Given. Dominic.
