2018/19 Football Season Brewery Visits - 103
I got singled out at the baggage check entering Lord's. One can of Diet Coke. One can of White Monster. And one Can'O'Beer were closely scrutinised. “Any alcohol?”. “Yes, this 'un”. To be fair to the security lady, maybe she hadn't come across Left Handed Giant Brewery's vaguely Sci-Fi branding before. I quizzed her why she was specifically asking about alcohol. Fair enough. She just wanted me to know that the guidelines were now two cans, not four, and she didn't want me to get caught long in the future. I giggled & explained my four can games were over. Strictly a One Can Man nowadays (hostage to fortune).
So, let's deal with it;
Left Handed Giant, Sonny Boy from said tin at 6.9%. Bought from Real Ale Maida Vale. A great IPA. Deep & resinous right from the go. The later bitterness mingling in with some tropical fruits. Lovely at that abv, which suited it well.
That game was set up well overnight. Middlesex were 94 behind. But, only two down. They took that to 116. Before losing Nightwatchman Harris AND Sam Robson (for 63) at that score. Five AND Six (Eoin Morgan) both went at 146. Simpson & last man Murtagh both went at 200. Both to Glenn Maxwell, who has ended up with five for 40. One of his victims, a former (and who knows) future England Test Player shuffled through The Long Room and said “Out to Maxwell, that's rubbish”.
That left the Lankies to make 39, with no time pressure. That 427 has made all the difference.
