Fuck Sake. Eleven. Nievenheim play in Bezirksliga Niederrhein 1. That's Tier 7 of the German pyramid. The best I can say about Neuss is - they are below that. Those goals notwithstanding, this was very much a low key affair for my 492nd Ground Tick. Platz 2 is a 4g pitch. We counted the number of seats in the stand twice. There were 48. Two short of the standard required for National League Step 6 in the English pyramid. And, there were the odd ones missing. So, a simple trip to B&Q would be enough to bring them up to standard.
An officious Ref (Kevin Schröter). But, only - signal the throw ins - impromptu linesmen. One of those started arguing with the Ref when the Ref gave offside against the linesman's team. And, as further indication of the low keyness of this ‘un. NBNS. No Beer, No Sausage. Points deduction incoming as that breaks all the rules of German Kicky Ball.
Neuss were shocking. But scored easily the best goal of the game. That was Patrick Specht on 73. They were seven nil down at that stage. A superb chip from (say) 45 yards. With the Nievenheim keeper way off his line and scrambling back. Unsuccessfully.
Nievenheim had gone six up in the first twenty minutes. What the fucking set up at the back was for Neuss, I've no idea. Both centre backs set far too wide, and too distant from each other. No protection from midfield in front of them. Nievenheim were just able to walk it, and/or play simple balls, through the middle. With impunity. Nobody on the park, nor on the bench seemed interested in shoring it up.
Anyway. Four goals for Kevin Stadler & five for Kevin Scholz.
