Early start today on my Lap of Scotland Tour. Having been in Glasgow for Scotland v England, we'd then been to Inverness for Clachnacuddin FC in The Highland League. We did Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh by train. Then a variety of buses down Skye. And the Armadale to Mallaig ferry back to the Mainland.
So. An 0603 start on The West Highland Line, Mallaig back to Glasgow. Onwards to Dumfries. (Carlisle-Settle-Leeds later in the trip)
Very much out-of-season up there in The Highlands & Islands. But we were able to put a few drinks together. Those included Strathaven Ales, Plockton Brewery, Loch Ness Brewery & Isle of Skye Brewery. Happy with that.
My first visit to Dumfries and Palmerston Park. Very much enjoyed it. State of the art synthetic pitch up there. Maybe it was my imagination. But it seemed to encourage players to hold the ball but knock it quickly on the ground when needed.
I suppose/presume the trueness of the surface gives players the confidence to trap it & lay it off.
Anyway. Lots of quick feet on display. Strike me. Ex-Blade Christian Nade up front for Raith. He ain't been on a diet since he left BDTBL.
