Dronfield did well in the first half. Matched a “strong” Utd XI. But, in the end, the Young Blades ran out fairly easy winners. Repeating myself …. Futures U19 is very much Aacdemy U18 lite. Del Geary runs the line. Mick Wadsworth is there. Many of the players feature in Saturday morning games v Championship Club Academies. Indeed, George Broadbent & Reon Potts were out there in Dronfield tonight. And, they have featured for SUFC Academy U23s.  Because of that “experience”, I was a little disappointed in Utd in the first half. A bit disjointed & they couldn’t really get anything going. Things changed a bit with a disputed penalty after 60 minutes. Sammy Ompreon was brought down in the box - which was not the view of the Dronny players and staff. Ompreon went down again a bit later - looked a better shout to me - the ref booked him for simulation - evening it up a bit methinks.

AnyRoadUp, there then followed a bit of Ball Wrestling between Ompreon & Reon Potts as to who should take the penalty. Sammy won & converted. A goal from Angelo Capello on 66 settled it all down a bit. SUFC added a third in the last minute.

The pre match drink was in The Dronfield Arms. I went there for HopJacker. I got HopJacker. I tasted other HopJacker. It’s a great & welcoming pub.

I thought I might get red fruit off the rye. But didn't. Absolutely bursts with flavour though. Very fresh, gets to all your taste buds.
