Thumping. Neither one thing nor the other. Cricket is an intense sport. You need to focus for 6 balls an over. For 96 overs a day. For four days. For 16 games. If you don't keep the mental focus, you'll go for a bundle and/or get out. But, there are also releases. Between balls, overs, days, games. Nature of it.

And. There's seasons. It is not season over yet. But, when Onions took that wicket. When the murmurs went around Lord's. With Gale out there in the middle. That's a good excuse for a release of the focus.

Not what you'd want. But an inevitability. Some focus goes. Not the time for criticism. We know the frailties. Under some circumstances, there would now be a chance to try different things. With 2 games left.

But the schedule scuppers. Plunkett, Rashid & Bairstow at the Old Trafford ODI. The best part of 4 hours drive from Hampshire. Where Yorkshire start at 1030.

I had a good look around at Lord's. Fisher, Pyrah & Rhodes on parade. I'd expect all three to feature at Hampshire. There's not much more to learn about Rich. Sorry mate, unless we learn he's done.

I'm delighted that we've won the Champo. I've seen us be absolutely dominant. I've seen us in trouble, but recover. Spectacularly. And, I've seen us just not able to get the job done. I was delighted to be at Lord's to "see them win it".

My celebrations were helped along by;

Five Points Brewing Co., Pale Ale 4.4% from a can. Again, that is a superb, consistent beer.

Beavertown, 8 Ball Rye IPA 6.2% from a can.

The Kernel, India Pale Ale Double Mosaic 9.2% on keg in The Craft Beer Co.
