Gillespie/Gale Gunslinger Gauge - steady at THREE. Head, Willey & Hodd.
It seems that The Pub is no more. I’m not sure what has happened there. Because of that comprehensive tonking by Yorkshire, we had time for a drink we didn’t expect. We hared off to The Pub, to find it completely shut. The advantage is that you can get in the back door of The King’s Head more-or-less directly opposite. Which we did. A great range of maybe 10 handpulls. And two craft keg if you looked at the blackboard rather than the kegs.
I went Black Country, Chain Ale on cask at 4.2%. A lovely refreshing session Gold with a neat floral bitter kick.
A poor offering in the ground. The Rules & Regs say you can’t take alcohol in. They don’t check at the gate. But, some of the stewards keep an eye out for mass consumption of Stella cans. There is always a discreet way. But, otherwise, poor. Nothing on cask in The Meet. And, just a lone handpull of Marston’s EPA at 3.6%. Recovering, I basically don’t mind that. If it has to be one, it has to be. So, uninspiring, rather than poor.
In anyone’s language, that is a Tonking. Big, much better than a run a ball tons for Leaning & Head. I honestly thought 200 for Head & 400 was possible at one stage. Leaning is beginning to fire. He is a powerful bloke. When he hits a Six, it’s gone. Five in this effort. Head hit 18 fours. Only five batsmen came to the crease. That tells the tale.
Comprehensive Tonking.
