Pre Season Friendly

It's only pre season. But, I'm a little unconvinced by all that. So, Halifax had a giant. So, their game plan was to put a lot of the play through him. (Not all). You've got to deal with it. It's within the rules.
The defence (Brayford, Wilson, O’Connell, Hussey variant) were getting caught out by that. And much more besides. Part of me wants to say that Sharp (again) looked lacking in lustre up front.
But, maybe it's not really that. He's playing without a target man. When it's two from him, Done & McNulty, in the New System. They're running channels.
Very little link up play. The midfield had enough of the ball. Just didn't use it well. And partly that's because it looked like runs for channels all the time from the fellas in front of them.
Looks to me like they need to a) shift it around so they can live on scraps without a target man, b) buy a target man or, c) rely on Dom Calvert-Lewin for that role.
Not a. surely. They did look better with Dom on. Not because he did particularly well. But because he was at least playing the target man role.
Early days. Defence unsure at times. Run ragged at times. Conceded twice. Couldn't get it going up front. Nothing incisive from midfield. Few shots off.
Stop me now.
Nice two pub drink. Both Ossett Brewery. The Drop Inn, Elland. A great pint of Rat Brewery, Mother Rat Milk Stout on keg at 5.5%. Refreshing. Tingling bitterness. Some toffee off the malt. Not as sweet as I'd expected. Amen to that.
The Three Pigeons. Very close to the ground. A great matchday pub. Bar front is too small. But, it is what it is. Mobbed. Bingley, Goldy Locks on cask at 4%.
