Dire. Look, we Band of Blades, after all these years in Division 3, know better than anyone. THERE IS NO MAGIC BUTTON.
There were no positives on the pitch last night. But, there are positives around. We are not hogtied by expensive, long contract, last payday, ageing players. Well, we've only got one hand tied. Rather than both hands & feet.
We have a manager who has core honest, fighting, realistic values.
We can argue about The Blades Way. We can have Micky Adams quoted at us. But, Wilder fits us more than Robson, Weir & Adkins.
Right, what are we going to do?
1. Don't sign anyone else just yet. We've had years of chasing the last piece of the jigsaw. He's got six of his in the side last night. It's not gone to plan. But, let's have a few more games to see how it pans out. We can't keep building a side every six games. We just can't.
2. Confidence is lacking. Work on that. Let's have a Simon The Psycho sports psychologist in if that's what it takes. Someone lead. Let's put an end to the petulant pointing & shrugging when you don't get the ball where you want it.
3. Release the Ponies. Brayford & Sharp are one trick ponies. But, great tricks. Clear their heads. Forget shape. Forget tracking back. Forget coming deep. Let's have one game where they just concentrate on doing what they do well. Forget Project Fear. To hell with the consequences. It can't get worse than last night. (Hussey can bomb down the left & put balls in an’ all for me.)
4. Strikers be selfish. No little dinks. No threading it through. Blast it. Be Patrick Suffo. Be the one whose name shall not be mentioned Ched Evans. Hell, be Diego. Shoot on sight. And if you don't get a sight, shoot anyway.
