Upside down game

Southend United 2 v Sheffield United 4

A wrong way around game today. The Blades scored very early on. And, despite being 4-1 down at one stage. It was Southend who were bang at it at the end. Dragging it back to 4-2 & hitting the bar after that. But, at times, United were utterly dominant. At 4-1, with 15 mins left, I was allowing myself to think - Send A Message.

They changed it up a bit. Fewer touches in midfield. Move it quickly. Stay strong in the box. Paid off. Utterly dominant at times.

We went MicroPub. A slightly odd experience. Mawson’s out on the A13. An outlet for George's Brewery out in Great Wakering. Quite a nice set up. Cask & kegs listed on a blackboard. Kegs handles on the side of the bar. Casks by Gravity out the back. Maybe 6 cask, 4 keg.

There were some fellow travellers at the bar. Tasting & quizzing the young barman. But, when my turn came, it was just me. I quizzed him about two beers. Chose one. And ordered it. He exited. And come back with a two beers one customer situation. I told him it was just me. That I needed one beer. He didn't seem to know how to handle it. So, I saved him & had ‘em both.

And, while we're at it. He didn't seem to know what the beers were. Simply repeating what was written on the blackboard when quizzed.

For eg, on first taste, the George's, Checkpoint Charlie, at 4% on cask was clearly Belgian Style Golden. He hadn't mentioned that under cross examination. There was an 8.6% up there. Even now, I have no idea what it was. He just couldn't get the words out. Odd.

Anyway. My second one was Franklins, North Shaw IPA on cask at 5.5%.
