I ended up back on the Marston's 61 Deep, Pale Ale on keg at 3.8%. That felt a bit gratuitous. The weather was cold. There was rain. If you bagged a good seat in the warm, you drank what was to hand.
10 overs to get to Duckworth Lewis in this affair. Fell 6 short. I must admit I'm quite looking forward to the 50 overs in this format. I might end up getting 9 games in three weeks. Middlesex (inserted) certainly got on with it. A little bit of the early season shenanigans at Lord's. The Tavern side boundary was a little short. Stirling buffed the second ball for six. Nine sixes in all, a lot down the order.
Five batsmen got to 40 or more. Three to 69 or more. To an old skooler like me, 341 sounds a big score. We'll see over the next few weeks. Who knows what the plan is. But, once you're at it, getting a good few to 40 or more will work. Stirlo, Franklin, Simpson & Higgins were all better than a run a ball.
Shahzad went for 88 runs off 9.
