Before Yorkshire have gone in to dig. Some fella has asked his mate. “When's the Follow On?”

I've thought…”A week on Tuesday…” Yorkshire looked that far behind. But, at last, a bit of resilience from patchwork quilt opener Kohler-Cadmore & patchwork quilt opener Shaun Marsh. That'll be a kick in the pants for next week's patchwork quilt opener Kraigg Brathwaite. I'm hearing. Only the second 50+ opening stand of the season for the Underperforming XI.

No disrespect. And he has had a poor season. But, Brooks has done the illusory there. Team racks up bits South of 600. Likelihood is someone in the mix may take Five. Brooks has. Salute. It'll be next April before it's in Wisden.

What a superb beer offering that is at The Oval. Gives me yet another opportunity to lament. Just the one. You know the drill. Black Sheep or nowt. At fortress Headingley.

The model at The Oval. CAMRA Members. Look away now. Is Rack Bright Beer. On Gravity. That'll work….

Presumably, they ask a few local breweries, nicely. To Bright a few casks. There now follows my version of the science. Real Ale, cask ale if you will, has all the beaks & twigs left in it. You put it on a shelf. Leave it nicely. And all (most of) the gubbins falls to the bottom. So the beer is clear (bright) when it goes in the glass. When you start “scraping the bottom of the barrel” the beer is cloudy & they should just take it off.

Real Ale is a problem for Sports Stadia. Carting the barrels around. People giving them an accidental bang. General lifting and ashifting. All disturbs the beaks n twigs. Punter no likee, beer she is cloudee.

So. The Brewers decant beer from a cask which includes beaky & twiggy. Into a brand, spanker. While leaving beaky n twiggy in the original cask. Beer in the new cask is like button. Bright. Proper Science.

Or, it's Black Sheep all round. Huzzah.

I've counted SEVEN different beers (gravity from casks) across two bars. I went…

Tillingbourne, Hop Troll IPA at 4.8% (Long Room Bar)
Portobello, Blonde at 4.2% (Kennington Club Bar)

Belters. Both. Bursting with flavour. Refreshing. The richness, chewyness & borderline Hop Bomber of the Tillingbourne gave it the edge.
