Look at that. Just look at that. England batting at Close yesterday. Still batting at Close today. Ditto. Cook. I feel like he's put me back in the room. Once he's booked in, it's just relentless. Pick off a few bad balls. Defend a few good 'uns. When he's in this groove. It's all about shot selection. Again. Again. Again. That was simply a joy to watch.
And, it means we can see how the game works. I'll take nothing from this great Australian team. But, if someone stays deep. Other people stay with them for a bit. There's a plan. There's a platform. The stupid shots, too early. The pretty thirties. They mean more. Because there's a backbone.
And what about Broad? What a cricketer he is. With their last bit of strength. Before the Buckets kicked in. The quicks have chucked the lot at him. Hoping for a “tragic accident”. He's weathered it.
