I blow hot & cold with this Blog sometimes (ie always). Get it out quickly, so it's current. Take your time, so it's measured. Make it about the football. Make it about the beer. Make it short & readable. Not (as is usually the case) long & boring. At times, I've even set myself word targets. Five hundred words. One thousand words. That Villa game has “set Social Media & the forums alight”. I've calculated that if I Blog 500 words, that will represent exactly one trillion billionth of the words already written about it.

Partly, I've had it. I don't measure up on the new measures of Bladeyness. How high can you praise Henderson when he self publicises how many kids he's visited in hospital? How low can your criticism sink when he chucks one into his own net (ish). It's all boom & bust. Worldie or Utter Shite (thanks Thomas Carter of Twitter, I've nicked that off you). Because I take it all in my stride, that means I'm barely a Blade these days (modern definition).

Also. a) when did everyone become an expert in Game Management? b) when did Game Management mean running the clock down from 75?

Here's what Game Management is. Relentless attacking. Clinical goalscoring. Three up after 62. It feels like you're barely allowed to mention it these days. But, I'm happy to say, I'm enjoying all this. Football is a simple game, made complex by all the access & the words you can get out there. It's 90 minutes, plus added time, to score more than the others. Friday, we didn't. Another day we will.

A long weekend in Brum meant I've been able to take my Brewery count to 88.

Dig Brew Co. was my favourite of the three. Very accessible, you can just schlep over to Digbeth from the centre of Birmingham. We went late on Friday. It's fair to say, drink had been taken, a lot, by a lot. One lady got wind of the fact we were Beer Tourists. So, she brought the Dig Brew brewer over to meet us. Look, I've been around the block & seen the sights. But, the brewer was well inside the top ten most pissed people I've ever seen. So, I have very little information to impart from our brief exchange. Sorry (on his behalf). The best one I had was;

Dig Brew Co., El Topo, American IPA on keg at 5.8%. A superb, back to basics, straight down the line Californian style IPA. Everything right about that.

Attic Brew Co is also accessible. It's bang there at Bourneville station, a few minutes rattling from New Street. We were there on Saturday night. And, it was manic. But, it calmed down a little later. Five of their own on keg. Plus five local guests. The beers were OK. Nowt wrong. But, tellingly, the best I had in there was the guest Dig Brew Hell.

Dig & Attic felt modern. All keg (save one cask in Dig). Hazy this. Saison that. Etc. But, Two Towers Brewery at The Gunmakers Arms felt more traditional. In fact, they can have the Outstanding Beer Of The Weekend accolade.

Two Towers Brewery, Complete Muppetry on cask at 4.3%. A superb, unfined, easy drinking citrus pale. Aromatic & full of flavour.
