Elements of a Game of Two Halves. Neither superb. But, Utd were flat & uninspiring in the second half. We could so easily have been caught out. Fylde pulled one back to get the nerves going. Had their chances an' all. Wilder has gone Full Disruption Mode. Eleven changes. No doubt the Liverpool & Man City games took it out of the first string. Mentally as much as anything else. Where's he gone? What's coming next? Here we go again. So, I can understand the changes. That was the second string out there. But, it's so difficult for them to shine with no one to glue to.

We had the true, signed with a purpose understudies. Already been around the First Team, sometime starters, regular Subs. Freeman (L), Osborn, Besic, Robinson.

We had the still heres, could use them in a mad emergency, but, really, time has gone ers. Clarke, Freeman (K).

We had the Wilder out of the wasteland ers. The career resurrecters. Last chance salooners. Morrison and "new boy" Jack Rodwell. "He effectively bankrupted Sunderland you know" one of the Carrier Bag Firm remarked.

We had Insurance keeper Verrips. Experienced head Jags. And ….. Kean Bryan. My ear to the ground tells me the chattering Blades have already ruled on Bryan. Not up to it. Maybe some of them chatterers also ruled on Coutts back in the day. And on Lundstram, as recently as August. And, they won't admit it, maybe even ruled on Basham years ago. Rule on a player. Cast him out. Under this SUFC regime. What time can you come round? To have your arse handed to you?

I thought Bryan did OK. End of this window. If no Left CB signing. O'Connell goes lame. Or is suspended. Wilder will either have to Juggle. Or stick Kean in. Look. I'm not advocating him. I'm just saying lay off for a bit. In the first half, I thought Osborn & LFreeman combined well down our left. With Bryan playing his part as well. He threatened to bring the ball through the line a few times. But, never quite fully making it. Bryan trusts his distribution & his mates. Not afraid to bang it short to LFreeman with his back to goal. I also felt Bryan, and most of the others, judged how far to push in. Fylde were sitting deep. No point hanging around with no one near you at the back. Push in, get near the midfielders. I was pleased with that.

KFreeman was also getting in the game a lot. But, not really as part of midfield & CB build up. Lots of cross field Hollywood balls were being hit in his general direction. Mainly by Morrison. He's comfortable and confident. But, it just feels all too slow & methodical. You'd hope Morrison could take the ball on, burst through, unlock. But, it's all move it on or 40 yard over the top Golden Globes. The difference between our left side & right side build up was noticeable.

Reverse that for Corners. But keep the same cast. On the right LFreeman (left footed). With well worked, all stand in a line & get free routines. On the left.  Morrison right footed. Vaguely trying to float it over the first man into the keepers zone. WTF.

Anyway. Fourth Round. We're Hatting.

And. Then it came to pass. My disrupted football. Was followed by disrupted beer. In the sense of Messed Around With. Far. Too. Much. One "beer" on the board was written up as;

Lervig/Great Leap, Dark n Stormy, Run, Ginger Beer, Lime, Szechuan Pepper, 10% … Cocktail not Beer!

I mean. Come on. That was in The Crow Inn, sister pub to The Rutland Arms. Fairly recent renovation & opening. And the first time we've ever ventured. Over New Year, they'd had a Tap Takeover featuring Norwegian brewers Lervig. We had to settle for what was left.

Lervig, Orange Velvet IPA on keg at 5.5%. With Mango, Lime, Vanilla & Lactose. A bit too messed around with if I'm honest. The flavours are (thankfully) fairly gentle. But I'm getting too much lime (for eg).

Lervig & Mahr's Brau (Bamberg, Germany) Collab, Franconian Haze on keg at 5.5%. A Dunkelweizen. Nice enough. The flavours are a bit mixed up. Bizarrely, I'd prefer less hops. It's just not soft enough. Needs to Weizen up a bit.

Lervig & Other Half Brewing Co (Brooklyn, USA) Collab, Nothing Is For Sure on keg at 10%. Double Dry Hopped Double IPA. A lovely, but serious beer. Smells very fresh. But, is thick in your gob. The bitterness is B. itter. Sort of overpowers the sugar.

Lervig, Coconuts on keg at 12.5%. Imperial Stout. With coconuts & maple syrup. Jeez. Some Maple Syrup with a bit of Stout in. Let it develop. The coconut is there underneath it all. But that Syrup coats your tonsils.

But, Outstanding Beer Of The Day goes to this Ultra Disrupted Belter;

Lervig, Saskatoon Cheesecake Stout on keg at 12%. With Lactose, Saskatoon Berry Extract & Natural Cheesecake Extract. OK. I'll say what you're thinking. Is there even such a fucking thing as Natural Cheesecake Extract? Anyway. That works. Berries, with added Berry. Rich & sweet. Don't know exactly what they've done. But, yes, cheesecake it is. Doesn't taste that abv either.
