That was a bit of a table topping shootout at Abbeydale. Whoever won, would put themselves in with a great shout of Winning The West. And Encountering The Eastie Boys in the Final.
Sidenote. With all the Hoo Haa surrounding Azeem Rafiq & allegations of Racism. You may note that I think that was Rafa's Brother Danial out there for Whitley. (8 runs off 13 balls, 3 catches in the field).
The previously reported Tetleys Original Cask was the only surviving beer in the Clubhouse. No drama. But, I declined.
A simply constructed innings for the Hallers. Although they were struggling a bit at 79 for 5. When Neil Longhurst was out for 29. But a 53 run stand between James Brown & Alex Fletcher pushed them on a lot. Brown was top scorer & last man out on 38. Henry Eldred & Robert Shaw snaffled three apiece for Collegiate.
There was some right old whooping in the field when Simon Guy went for only 9 at 24 for 1. But, at 104 for 4, Collegiate looked in a good position. But, that begat 107 for 7 when Josh Varley went cheaply. It was good to watch as Henry Eldred & Isaac Parkin got it down to just 23 wanted, still 7 down & enough balls to get there. But, two quick wickets left the last pair with a lot to do. Neil Longhurst took his third wicket to end most of it. I say most of it, as Tom Eldred was caught off a highish full toss. Which I think Collegiate Coin Tosser Varley is probably still questioning with the Ump.
