Well. We know one thing about this season. The Carrier Bag Firm are going to be drinking a fucking lot of lager. I feel I got caught out a bit there though. We had a detailed 21 different ground, prioritised hitlist. All depending on the progress CBF Drive made on our way through Devon & Cornwall. Critical Success Indicators were deployed. Although we wouldn't be able to make kick off, Bodmin was the best hit. In trying to find a parking place, we had to drive past the turnstile. Where. Ten minutes after kick off, the magnificent Falmouth F-Troop away following were still piling out of the clubhouse (crucially outside the turnstile), scanning in using the now essential NHS Test & Trace & Ground Ticking App & carting their ale onto the grass bank.
Once we'd joined them in the ground, I asked "an official" whether I could nip back out to get a beer from the clubhouse. He explained, table service only, amongst other things, meant I might be better off chancing it at the tea bar. So. Can of Carlsberg it was. Hindsight. Maybe should have persevered & perused the clubhouse. Wonderful thing hindsight. Wonderful thing watching the game with a beer on. Carlsberg - doable, but not wonderful.
Falmouth F-Troop were great value. Flags a-plenty. A Drum. But, best of all, they'd brought their own PA System on wheels. Belting out ALL the classics. Hersham Boys. Lip Up Fatty. Ernie The Fastest Milkman In The West. You get the picture.
A keenly contested game. Ended in Raucous Rendering of said Classics as Falmouth got it over the line one nil. More Carlsberg Barman.
That was the 365th different ground I've visited to watch a game. Using the TOSS counting method obvs. (Tottenham's On Same Site, you only count it once, no matter how many fucking columns you can fit in Excel).
