We're getting there Sunshine. We're getting there. Handpulled Cask Ale in the Socially Distanced, One Way In, watch out for The Ambush on the one way out, Helston Athletic Clubhouse. Obvs, we deployed the full range of Carrier Bag Firm techniques. Wander in inquisitively very early in the dance. Absolutely & verbally confirm availability of said Ale. Walk past. Many. Many times. Until you see some civilian buy one. (Might be a while since they sold one, need to make sure it's pulled through, we're not fucking amateurs). And then ….

St Austell Brewery, Tribute, Pale Ale, on cask at 4.2%

I'm not going to embarrass us all by providing tasting notes for what is a pretty mainstream beer. The beauty of that beer is all about the location & occasion & view. Actually scrub that. The view means the pitch. (Although I did, correctly, get told off for drinking it on the picnic tables after kick off - veranda only - as required). As it happens, not too sweet, lots of peach, needed hop oooommmmpppphhhh. But. Great. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great game at Kellaway Park. The 367th different ground I have watched & ticked a game on. As always, very happy to debate what counts as a ground & a tick. But, I'm right - #367.

It finished ten a side. Although the second Red (for Helston) didn't come until 87. At that stage, Sticker (having been one nil down & two one up) were losing 3-2 & down to Ten Men. And. Were. Going. For. It. Will Tinsley fetched (well whacked really) a Stick Man down as the last man. That free kick hit a car by the fence FFS. And, they had another one before the end. Whipped in this time to avoid an insurance claim. But, no one could get owt on it. Great finish. Helston hanging on for the big W. 147 witnesses.

This being Cornwall, we pulled all the tricks out to source some Verdant Brewing Co beers. That involved bursting through the door of The Craft Beer Box in Camborne two minutes before he shut. Get this. He'd already taken most of the tins off the shelf & put them into cold storage. (He's only open Thursday, Friday, Saturday - so we'd have had to wait four fucking days for him to open again). Anyway. He's been open a fortnight & I put just South of Fifty English over the jump. Done my bit there.

So far….
Verdant Brewing Co, Marylou from a tin at 5.2%
Smells lovely & pineapple fruity. Inviting in the glass. Lots of joyous hop bitterness upfront. To be honest that hides any gloopiness. Long. Long finish.

Verdant Brewing Co, Neal Gets Things Done from a tin at 6.5%
I love these Verdants. Mainly because they're not overglooped & the Hops are exquisitely balanced. The bitterness here is very rich, but doesn't overpower.
