SUFC 2021/22 Game #4
I'm afraid, as an unusual exception to our normal rules, the Carrier Bag Firm have an announcement to make to part of our Away Fanbase.
If you're with The Banter Chanters, and you're all…..
"We've had a Shot…..
or
"How shit must you be, it's only four nil…..
or, if you're down with the sarcastic cheers when the keeper catches one.
You can Fuck Off any time you like.
Boo. If you have to. Shout "rubbish". If you have to. But leave the self deprecating, gallows humour shit chants trying to get Likes from the West Brom fans at home.
Thankfully, this particular Blades Content Provider does not have to rely on detailed tactical analysis. Nor player rankings. Let's agree to just go for the pubs & beer today.
The stop off was Sutton Coldfield. In which we visited a lovely traditional pub & a modern shop front craft beer bar.
The Station, 44 Station St, Sutton Coldfield B73 6AT
Very clean, bright & friendly pub in the CAMRA Guide. Big windows letting lots of light in. Although I'll allow myself to say I found the cask list a bit uninspiring. Partly because it was riddled with Abbeydale. If you lived in Sutton, or indeed the Coldfield, I expect you'd be lapping those up.
Silhill Brewery, Blonde Star on Cask at 4.1%.
Although it took an age to pour and was described as "lively", that was actually in great condition. Just a bit of citrus tang before the bitterness kicked in.
I think it may take a while for some of the - drink up, move on to the next one - merchants on the coach to find their rhythm. There seemed to be a lot of walking in, followed by immediate walking out of licenced premises. Only one bar staff. Only one beer on. Being the most oft quoted excuses. I did allow myself a wry smile as a lot of them ended up congregated in the craft beer bar drinking pilsner.
Craft Inn, 40 Birmingham Rd, Sutton Coldfield B72 1QQ
A fairly simple one room affair with a small bar in the corner. Revealed under questioning to be part of the Sommar Brew Co empire. Brewing under the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham City Centre the fella said. Eight keg lines to go at. Their own were the majority. Then guests.
Sommar Brew Co, Flake With That Bab, Milkshake/Ice Cream Pale on Keg at 5.5%
Sommar Brew Co, Be A Pineapple, Milkshake/Ice Cream Pale (with pineapple) at 5.5%
At least he had the good grace to admit those were essentially the same beers. One with pineapple (it weren't all that pineappley), one without. The base was indeed, milky. Pleasantly so
Sommar Brew Co, Apricot Lincoln, Fruited Sour on Keg at 5%.
