Played at Twickenham
"Gratuitous" visit to Twickenham for the Rugby International. Conveniently squeezing it in between Albania at Wembley & San Marino away. Not a bad atmosphere inside. Seemed quite a knowledgeable crowd around me. Minus two Carrier Bag Firm, as we understand the game "in patterns" rather than in detail. Also, we don't really know who any of the players are. Also, as republican atheists, we quite like the Advance Australia Fair ditty to the God Save The Queen dirge. Anyway, we have it our best shot. A great opening try by (or so I read) Freddie Steward set the tone. A few neck high tackles & turn him upside downers from Australia got the crowd ticking over. With the endless replays on the big screens as the ref reviews it.
Those all seemed like team errors in an error ridden performance by Australia. An England try at the death pushed England away from them.
I'll note the continued singing of "Sweet Chariot' by the crowd. Not in a two fingers to the woke way. But in a this is what we do way. In case you missed it, the Rugby Football Union conducted a review (of sorts) into the (now looks) somewhat odd singing of a Slave Song at Twickenham internationals. While not banning the song, the RFU have removed any links between the song & their own merchandise. And, they no longer display the lyrics on the big screens.
We went the very quiet way to Twickenham. Completely avoiding Waterloo, Richmond & Twickenham itself. The somewhat down at heel & multi cultural feel of Hounslow doesn't really seem to appeal to the Rugby goers.

Fits the Hounslow model. Is it still a "true" Fuller's pub? Difficult to tell. The kitchen has been taken over to become a Thai Pub Grub outlet. Two handpulls on. Inevitably….

What can I say? Standard. Good pint to suit the location & occasion.
