BrewDog are good at sucking me in with their mad marketing. The Unleash the Yeast series. Same grain & hop bill, different yeast. Piled in. The latest takes some believing. Born To Die. According to them, Beer brewed with a very limited shelf life. It will “be dead” by the date listed.
So, I took a 660ml bottle into Lord’s (bought at BottleDog in Kings Cross). This was Born to Die 04 07 2015, at a whacking 8.5%. To be honest, it didn’t taste that abv. Maybe because there was very little sweetness. In a way, it was a lovely simple beer. The aroma & initial flavour were deffo citrus, leaning towards grapefruit, with some pineapple/tropical going on. The bitterness grew nice & steadily. There wasn’t a sudden death grip of hops. It just built & built into a nice smooth, intense finish. Great beer, I’ve got in there very early. Not dead yet.
Blah, blah… some link to English Cricket not dead yet - oh, I can’t be bothered. Hard hard Yakka out there for the England boys. You could say the game has turned a bit on Buttler’s dismissal last evening. It might have been different with him & Moeen getting us underway this morning. As it was, they’ve gone quickly with not many added. And NZ have scored at a brisk rate, only 2 down. It’s the New Ball very early tomorrow. But if Williamson & Taylor can weather that, they might really cash in.
And there is a Welcome To Big Boys Cricket award to England debutant Mark Wood. He’s “taken his maiden Test wicket”. Only for the 3rd Umpire to have a long squint & call it as a No Ball. Them’s the Breaks.
