First time I'd been in. From the street it's a beer shop. It's up one flight to the pub. A small bar with a medieval theme. All stuffed animals & pelts. Bizarrely, I found myself getting annoyed by the medieval theme. I kept having to kick myself & remember I was in a very old building. It wasn't really "a theme".

It was just after 11am. The bar staff were a bit flustered when I asked if the casks had been pulled through. I hate beer that has been sitting around all night. Surely pulling beer off first thing in the morning ought to be standard.

Putting aside standard fayre, I counted 4 cask & 5 keg lines.

I had Wild Beer Co. Fresh at 5.5% on cask. It was served foaming. I got aromas of caramel & tropical fruits. When I tasted it there were flowers & a lovely well balanced bitter on the palate. Followed by a nice gentle & lingering finish. It was very easy drinking. I liked it a lot.

I moved on to Bad Seed Brewery india pale ale on keg at 7%. In the glass it was opaque & unfiltered with a tight off white head.

Mouth filling. The hoppy bitterness kicked in quickly. Bitterness was very much the dominant flavour. I found it very refreshing with quite a short finish.

Further down the glass I got straw & hay on the palate & a nice dryness.

After the game we headed for Pivni.

I worry about sour beers....

This one did have a sour aroma, slightly woody.

(For my taste) it was not too sour, indeed perfect balance, with a bit of sweetness kicking in. I got the fruit taste without particularly being able to distinguish Cherry. There was a lingering dryness (which I liked).

I moved on to Partizan Abbey Red at 7.1% on keg. It was a deep tan in the glass.  I'd love a pair of penny loafers that colour.

There was a lovely thick head and a swirling sweet malty aroma. When tasting it, sweetness kicks in. Dark fruits. Sultanas. Dates.

I'd say it's a true red. Very little bitterness or hop kick.

In honesty it was too sweet for my taste, but not overpowering.
