Away Pub Of The Year
Wild Beer At Wapping Wharf, Bristol
Tricky. Because it was a bit of a pilgrimage really. Fancied it for years. Wild Beer, Madness IPA remains the best beer I have ever necked. Twenty one on keg - fifteen of their own. They can have the main award.

New Find Of The Year
The Stoneworks, Peterborough
I counted 19 on keg. Good range. (But no high side 7% Hop Bombers)

Never Disappoints, Old Favourite Of The Year
Past & Present, Gillingham. Opened early because they thought a lot of Blades would turn up.

Beer In The Ground
Concrete Cow Brewing, Pail Ale, Milton Keynes away

As always, a poor year for this award. Anything other than Industrial will do it.

Champions. I thought I'd track down a Kernel to celebrate. Hop Hideout on Abbeydale Rd. Four on keg. Including two Kernels.

The Kernel, India Pale Ale, Simcoe on keg at 7.3%.

Not quite what I expected. Quite pale in the glass. Golden yellow. Very very appealing to smell. Tropical fruit all over it. Mango, pineapple, the lot. Candied summat. Wine gums. Sports Mix. To be honest. The taste doesn't live up to all that. And, it comes up a bit underpowered. It is branded IPA after all. The lovely long finish, quite a bit of citrus in it, saves the day.
