There's a list of disappointing things. England had found ways to stay in the game. A little innovation here. A little application there. But, today, wheels off. Maybe we're just where we are. The real deals, your Cook, Anderson, Broad, now on a downward curve. Your new lads, not up to Big Boys Cricket. We might be able to stay in it for long periods. But, maybe that's all. Time will tell.
Two gone yesterday before parity. Four down before 80. No one kicking on to make the Big 'Un. Bairstow out ramping “just” before tea at 194 for eight. Tea actually came at the Innings Break - 195 all out. Great insight from Mrs Ball Sup. We were supposed to meet a fellow traveller for a beer at tea. We were in The Members in Section 45. He was in The Outer at 61. Mrs B-S pointed out that when we left our seats to go & meet him, England were six down. By the time he kissed her on the cheek. We were all out. Blink. And you miss it.
I'm deep into the order in Aether Brewing. Today saw the Hazy Gloop of a New England IPA. A thin, nowt going on, near beer, Passionfruit Berliner. And a Pineapple Saison, with no discernible Pineapple & which was actually a very nice Wit.
Aether Brewing, Twisted Vine, New England IPA from a tin at 5.5%
Aether Brewing, Passion Hop, Berliner Weisse on keg at 4%
Aether Brewing & Netherworld Pineapple Saison on keg at 5%
But, no doubt, the Standout Beer Of The Day was a heavenly Brewtal, Turps Shandy NZ Oatmeal IPA on keg at a delish 6.3% in The Scratch Bar. Powerful, hoppy bitterness from the get go. Know your job. Do your job.
