475 Australian Beer Ticks
This Blog is a bit “listy”. One top Perth CBD Beer Bar. Plus five Western Australia Breweries to get through.
Petition, State Buildings, Perth
I really enjoyed Petition. But, let's have it right. It's achingly hip. Like many Australian places, my English “is it a Pub” mentally, meant I couldn't really work out what was what. Certainly, there is a restaurant. Certainly, there is a wine cellar/off licence/wine bar. We were in The Beer Corner. The walls weren't decorated (in old money). The decor style was distressed (in new money).
I counted a magnificent 16 Australian Craft on keg. (Plus a couple of Overseas). They'd clearly had a couple of Tap Takeovers recently. As there was a bit of concentration in the list. (A lot of Great Beacon for eg). But, that is not knockable.
Innate, The Juice, New England IPA at 6.8%.
Artisan, Boston, Innate Collab, Melange E Trois, Hoppy Belgian Red at 6.7%.
Artisan, Awesome Blonde at 5.8%.
Brewhouse, Margaret River
The kit is in a separate building. With some benches & tables on a terrace outside. And, a view of the Hops, pellets & powders for you to stare in at & Drool. I counted 8 of their own on keg. Plus, maybe a special or two & a guest or two.
Brewhouse Margaret River, Red Tail IPA at 6.2%.
Brewhouse Margaret River, Inji Pale Ale at 5.2%.
Eagle Bay Brewing Co
A large, lively place. With lots of staff. They were attentive & polite in a let me move that for you sort of way. I grabbed a beer menu to peruse, study & plan an attack strategy. “Let me move that for you”. ie take it away. Very politely. No worries to me. I just grab one from a nearby table. Count. To. Forty. “Let me move that for you”. Me - Smile. Fair enough. I now have to get up & head a few tables over to get another one. “Let me move that for you”. It's getting ridiculous now. Trust me. I can sit this one out, until there are NO menus on ANY tables. In between having my beer lists nicked, I counted seven of their own on keg.
Eagle Bay Brew Co, Single Series Mosaic IPA.
Cheeky Monkey Brewing
We're on a roll now. Great place. Simple, tight Aussie Lager, American Pale, West Coast IPA, Session Red core range.
Cheeky Monkey Brewery, West Coast IPA at 6.5%.
Hop Bomb KLAXON.
Absolutely wonderful. Hop Hop Hop forward. Citrus smell. Then Bang. Straight into bitterness. Grows. Dies. Grows again.
Cheeky Monkey Brewery, Pale Ale at 5%.
(Separately, from a tin at Perth Airport)
Cheeky Monkey Brewery, Session Red Ale at 3.5%.
Colonial Brewing Co
Great setting. Half indoors. Half in the kids playground & garden. I counted five of their own on keg.
Colonial Brewing Co, Wheat, Witbier
Colonial Brewing Co, Australia IPA at 6.5%
Homestead Brewing, Swan Valley
Very open & modern. Ostensibly looking out into the vineyards. Except. If you've driven there from Perth. You'll have passed a very ugly prison. And, as you sit on the brewhouse patio. You realise, those lights you can see are the prison. Seven on keg.
Homestead Brewing, Thunderbird, Pale Ale at 5.2%.
Homestead Brewing, Brauhaus Lager at 4.8%.
Homestead Brewing, Summer Ale at 4.8%.
Homestead Brewing, Kaisers Choice, Hefeweizen at 5%.
Homestead Brewing, Farmhouse Ale at 5.8%.
Bottles & Tins tidy up
Otherside Brewing Co, Pilot Series, Vinyl, Black Ale from a tin at 5.9%.
Bootleg Brewery, Speakeasy IPA from a bottle at 5.5%.
Bootleg Brewery, Paint The Town, Red IPA from a bottle at 7%
Gage Roads, Single Fin, Summer Ale from a bottle at 4.5% (Perth Airport)
578/1217
