SUFC 2017/18 Game 41
I walked into/through town about half four. Bedlam. As it should be. Of course I could get into pubs. Of course I could have queued up at the bar. But, I really didn't fancy it. So, I had a think. Having chosen my target. I executed my skills. Google Maps has the Pub as seven minutes walk, 0.4 miles, from Sheffield Town Hall. Come on, that's “in Town”.
I walked in at 5:30pm on a Friday, on Derby Day. I purchased & consumed one pint of foaming ale. Which I drank. Leisurely. I was the ONLY customer. On Derby Day. At Friday tea time. At one stage, a bus drew up. Some fellas bustled off. And looked expectedly through the pub windows. One bloke dived in. “Can I please use the toilet?”. That was it. Me & a pisser. The Empty Arms.
I like empty pubs. But, I like pubs which can survive. How can that one? I'm not naming names on this occasion. I had a very nice pint of Tollgate, Spark IPA on cask at 5%.
I thought that game was alright. Quite frenetic at times. Lots happening. But, not much happening up top. Final thirds and all that. Obviously, I'm disappointed. Already beat them. On the up. Full & Baying house. Bit of turmoil in S6. We had lots of possession. They were down to ten men for the last 25mins. It was cagey at times. And, we just didn't seem as relentless an attacking threat as I have seen us this season. Crosses were mishit. Kicks were missed. Defenders got in the way. Wednesday gave it a good go. It could have gone either way. I wanted it to go ours. This time. It didn't. I'm easy. More positives than negatives for me.
