That was billed as a friendly. That felt like a friendly. For me. Fairly flat. Not flat for everyone mind. I'm not going to go overboard. But, the deal was that Wayne Rooney would be brought back. For a farewell appearance. Indeed, a Cap. His 120th. And some sort of tie in with his Charitable Foundation. Mate, no idea. Presumably it's a modern distinction. I bet you anything it's got something to do with the money. I'm thinking Charity, some accountant is thinking Charitable Foundation.

Anyway, a lot of the crowd seemed energised by This Rooney Thing. Half n half Rooney themed scarves. People chanting his name. Clamouring for him to be brought on. Close to booing when he got on & the Americans wouldn't let him have the ball.

Mrs Ball Sup summed up the alternative view perfectly. “I don't wish him ill, but I'm just not interested”.

I couldn't help myself. I don't want him injured. But, I was hopeing one of the USA players would put him in the game. Loose ball. Take the ball. But take anything else in range. Up. In. The. Air. Welcome back to Big Boys Football. That was never going to happen. Games gone….

But, one door closes. Another opens. I'm a huge fan of the UEFA Nations League. Or rather, a huge fan of where it will eventually lead. Friendlies relegated further down the pecking order. Anyway. I was far more interested in the Croatia Spain game in Zagreb. England needed that result to go our way. To leave us a Live Rubber against Croatia at the weekend. I'm not a great fan of UEFA's Head to Head tie breakers rules. I prefer FIFA's straightforward Goal Difference rules. But, all that mix means many possibilities on Sunday. Win - England go to the Final Four in 2019. Nil Nil - England finish second & stay in Group A for 2021. Score Draw or Defeat - England will be relegated.

Summed up as - another nail in International Friendlies. Caps become meaningless. As old players are given a benefit match swan singing game. And, The League matters. Who. Knew? Let's get at it.

A good bit of planning reeled in three breweries. To take my May-May tally to 60. The best of the bunch was Old Street Brewery & Taproom. Tucked away at Bethnal Green Tube. A single railway arch. The kit at the back. A small bar down the left. I couldn't quite work the pipes out. There were sort of dispensing kegs behind the jump. But, the number of kegs & the number of beers on the board didn't make sense. Not a great problem. I was given an explanation that their own beers usually came new on the kegs on Fridays. So, it was four guests and.

Old Street Brewery, Peasant Juice, IPA on keg at 7.2%. That was superb. Got it all going on. Rich, resinous, fresh. Deep, deep bitterness, but nothing harsh.

Let the record show. We also did Redchurch Brewery and Alphabeta Brewery at Pittcue.
