4v4 And The Other 16

Sheffield United 2 v Wolverhampton Wanderers 1
Premier League
Saturday 4 November 2023
SUFC 2023/24 Game #20

A momentous win deserved momentous beers.

It just felt like a thing. Didn't it? First win of the season. I'm not going to be dramatic. I'm not issuing turning point call to arms. I'm just saying - we can win.

And, here's an illustration of where we are personnel wise. Rhian Brewster was the zone man at defensive corners. He's shit. Tendency to watch it sail over his head. And then he's gone off. So, for the rest of the game, zone man defence was … Jayden Bogle.

I'm writing this after Luton got a point (and nearly three) off Liverpool. We've played 11 games. Things are becoming clearer. Luton are 17th. We've got to get above them to survive. They're two points ahead of us!!!

If we get enough points to survive, we'll get them from a combination of a) the mini 4v4 bottom shootout league - us, Luton, Burnley, Bournemouth, AND b) picking up additional points here and there.

We haven't played any bottom four shootout games yet. So, we haven't got a true picture yet of where we stand against the other three. But, we're doing better than Bournemouth & Burnley in the Points Off The Other 16 Table.

Looking forward. Being positive. United play in the next two 4v4 shootout games. And three of the next four. By the New Year, we'll have played three 4v4 games. All of us, Luton, Burnley, Bournemouth will have played three. Our first objective is to win that 4v4 league. Even that might not keep us up. But, that's an objective. I realise that's a crude analysis. But, we start somewhere.

Right. Those momentous beers for that momentous win. (Industry Tap).

Fierce Beer (Aberdeen), Bourbon Maple Very Big Moose, Imperial Stout on Keg at 12.5%

A ludicrously luscious boozy bastard. I had pancakes and maple syrup for brekkie. Which had set me up nicely for this fucker. Itself piled high with sweet syrup and been three times longer in Bourbon Barrels than the Blades winless Premier League streak.

All that sweetness and bourboning had just come out as straight ahead booze. Could have been Port. Could have been Sherry. Could have been Barley Wine. Turned out to be Bourbon Stout. Gorgeous.

Northern Monk (Leeds), DEATH // IMPERIAL STOUT on Keg at 12%

Ah. Well. Problem there fella is - it's not as momentous as the Fierce.
