Right let's deal with it straight up. Warts n All. No punches pulled. Two trialists out there. Chris Wilder was at the game.

Reece Brown

Set up as a conventional right back in a conventional back four. Delivered straight from Wilder Central Casting. Big tall thing. He lasted the full 90. I didn't see any huffing & puffing. He looked pretty much on the pace. We saw more of his defensive qualities. He didn't bomb forward much. Maybe they just wanted to have a straightforward look at him. They did send him up for corners, given his size. Indeed, when one fell loose, he should have done better with a shot from about 15 yards.

Early on, I felt he was caught a couple of times as balls went over him. Maybe just a little bit out of position. He was strong in tackles. Didn't let his man run at him. A sort of ball winning full back. You don't see that much nowadays. He got his headers in as well. But, when you've got Shirecliffe Production Line centre halves like Semple & Cummings in there you don't have to do too much.

Good solid game. Looked on the ticket.

Cameron Stewart

United were quite fluid in midfield and attack. I'd say he set up wide left of four in midfield. But, more attacking minded than defensive. Reed & Whiteman anchored midfield. Stewart, David Brooks & Harry Chapman were popping up all over the place behind & around Lavery. I'm sorry. Call it as I see it. Stewart was easily the least effective of those players I've mentioned. Indeed, completely anonymous for large parts. In a team that dominated at times, you forgot he was out there.

The others were bang at it. Brooks & Chapman running at defenders at speed. Bit of trickery here & there. Reed & Whiteman busy & lively. Although Stewart didn't seem to be blowing, he seemed off the pace. He switched wide right. Made no difference. Deep into the second half he chipped one into the box. I felt that was about the only attacking move he'd been involved in. He lasted about 75. Disappointing for me.

I've name checked a lot of the others. This was a neat lively performance from the midfield & attack. Very solid at the back with Semple, Cummings & Alex Brown. They were a bit disrupted when Lavery went off. But, the attacking midfield players kept it busy. And, it picked up a bit late on once Jordan Hallam got at it.

I didn't see what happened to Lavery. He & the Fizz were in no doubt he needed to be subbed once he went down bang on half time. He needed the Fizz to support him as he limped to the bench. He slowly made his way round to the changing rooms at HT. Right sock off. Impromptu ice pack strapped to the back of his ankle.

They were clearly working on him. The United Physio initially didn't come out for the second half. The QPR fella was treating Utd players who went down. Eventually, Lavery emerged. Gingerly. With a black Ski Boot type brace on his right lower leg. I'm not a Doctor, that's all I've got. (Although Mrs Ball Sup is, she was with me, but didn't attempt a diagnosis, mumbled something about aspirins).

Why oh Why would I ever find myself in Harlington? Unless for the QPR Training Ground. Without that, I'd have missed the stupendous White Hart. So good, we went in before & after. Easily busable from West Hounslow (one of your three Hounslows) or Hatton Cross. West London here mate. People Just Do Nothing. Fuller’s Territory.

Three on Cask & Honey Dew on keg.

I had London Pride at 4.1%
and
Oliver's Island at 3.8%
Both in superb condition.

  1. Usual great report through. I didn't realise they were playing down here tonight otherwise I'd admit it with you, it's literally a stones throw from Heathrow. You better tell the Mrs that he needed ibuprofen not aspirin 😷

Hope you're both keeping well, not sure when or whether I will get to Lords.
