Tufty Talk v Leeds

The Carrier Bag Firm are ashamed to admit we went for a beer after that ridiculous one nil win at Elland Rd. That, my son, is not a great idea if you need to run the algorithms through Wilder's quotes after the game. Searching for hidden messages in post match interviews needs a very clear head. We didn't have one. As evidenced by us sleeping on the train through Sheffield & waking up in Chesterfield. But, we eventually got our act together. Anyway, this week it was Danny Hall's reporting we had to scrutinise.

“A lot of neutrals might have seen Leeds as the better team today but we grew into the game and hung on in there. It's a heavy pitch here and Leeds move you around the pitch, so we had to stick in and we are good at that.

With the ball, we were falling below our usual standards and we were turning the ball over pretty easily in the first half, but we grew into the game and showed what we needed to do when we weren't playing at the absolute top of our game.

After Tuesday a part of me was looking to freshen it up again because of the amount of effort the boys put in and the distance they covered.

We've been in the Championship 18 months now and it's maybe balanced itself out a bit. The amount of times last season we deserved to win the game and didn't, it must have happened half-a-dozen times.”

At face value, Chris's words sound honest & measured. At a time when he could easily have been carried away like the rest of us. No reference to Bielsa hectoring the Sky interviewer. No mention of Pontus Jannson's pre match rabble rousing. And, not one word about the chaos of Kiki Casilla getting red carded when all the Subs had been burnt. Against all that, Wilder stayed classy. Or did he?

The Tufty Talk has been deciphered in red

Leeds, Leeds are falling apart again

You've let yourself down a bit there Chris …...
